Tianjin is the fourth largest city in China, located 120 km southeast of Beijing, with a metropolitan population of 9-10 millions. Tianjin is one of the commercial and industrial centers in Mideast-Northeast China. It is also one of the main educational centers in China, and is home to the two oldest and well-known universities in China: Nankai University and Tianjin University. In recent years, the Tianjin community has made great efforts to modernize the city, the commerce and industries. Tianjin is now re-emerging as one of the most dynamic and bustling metropolitan cities in China.

Options for traveling to Nankai University, Tianjin:

  • Fly to Tianjin airport.

    Tianjin airport (TSN) has direct flights from all major cities within Mainland China, as well as direct flights from Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul, Osaka, Nagoya. The ground transportation from Tianjin airport to Nankai campus is usually by taxi, which is about 40 minutes for 23-25 km (in normal traffic), and costs about 70-80 Yuan. You can also take Tianjin Metro Line 2 from the airport into city, then transfer to Line 3. The Tianta Station (TV Tower) on Metro Line 3 is about 1.5 km from Nankai University.
  • Fly to Beijing airport.

    For oversea visitors it is much more convenient to fly to Beijing Capital airport (PEK). Beijing airport (PEK) is one of the world’s largest airports, with flights from almost all major airports around the world. PEK is about 160km away from Nankai campus. The best way to arrive at Nankai campus from PEK is to take the airport shuttle to Tianjin (82 Yuan); it takes about 2.5-3 hours, depending on traffic. The shuttle leaves Beijing airport every 30-45 minutes in daytime. After arriving in Tianjin, you can take a taxi to Nankai University (about 15-20 Yuan).
  • Train.

    You can take the high speed train from Beijing South Station to Tianjin Station (in the city, at 8-10 km), which costs 55 (2nd class) or 66 (1st class) Yuan and takes about 30-35 minutes.
  • Tianjin Metro.

    You can take Tianjin Metro from airport (Line 2 to Line 3), railway station (Line 3), or west railway station (Line 1 to Line 3), to a station near Nankai University. The Tianta Station (TV Tower) on Metro Line 3 is about 1.5 km from Nankai University. The metro ticket is 3-5 Yuan.
  • Advice: If you come from abroad, please have your currency exchanged before arrival or at the airport. Local transportation services only accept Chinese Yuan (RMB). You can buy RMBs at the Bank of China anywhere in China. Please bring your passport when you make the change. Banks and their airport branches are the only legal money change authorities in China. ATMs which accept international credit cards are more and more common in China.
